Notice of Severe Weather Trading Arrangements

The HKSAR Government announced that, the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) will implement the Severe Weather Trading (SWT)[1] arrangements on 23 September 2024 (“Effective Date”). The Hong Kong’s securities and derivatives trading will be maintained under severe weather conditions[2]. Chong Hing Bank Limited (the “Bank”) will endeavor to maintain relevant services to support trading activities during severe weather conditions, so far as reasonably practicable.

The Bank would like to inform you that you shall reserve sufficient time to review your banking transaction mode, and make necessary adjustments and arrangements if needed. To facilitate you understand the Bank’s latest arrangements, key changes to the Bank’s related products and services after the implementation of SWT arrangements are summarised as below:

Besides, most banking services of the Bank will remain unavailable during SWT Day, including but not limited to:

  • Branch services
  • General account services (e.g. fixed deposit placement, foreign exchange, account reactivation and remittance[6]) through Internet Banking/ Mobile Banking/ Phone Banking
  • Loan drawdown/ early repayment
  • Investment services[7]

 

The Bank understands that the implementation of the SWT arrangements may initially cause some changes to your banking routine, customers are advised to deposit sufficient fund via electronic channels to prevent any unexpected overdraft and encouraged to utilise our Internet Banking/ Mobile Banking[8] for enquiring account activities anytime anywhere. 

The Bank has updated the Account Terms (For Corporate Account and Personal / Joint Account) Part 1: General Terms and Conditions for All Accounts and Services, and Section VI - Term Deposits of Part 2: Terms and Conditions for Account and Banking Services. You can visit the Bank’s website at www.chbank.com (Personal Banking→Useful Information→Form Download) for the amended Terms and Conditions. The above amendments at Terms and Conditions shall be binding on you if you retain or continue the banking relationship with us on or after the Effective Date. If you do not wish to accept the above amendments, please refer to the applicable terms and conditions and let us know. We may however not be able to continue providing services to you if the above amended terms and conditions are not accepted.

[1] Severe weather trading (SWT) means trading and settlement of securities on or through the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (“HKEX”) will remain available during severe weather conditions.

[2] Severe weather conditions refer to the scenario where Typhoon Signal No. 8 or above, or a Black Rainstorm Warning is hoisted by the Hong Kong Observatory, or the “Extreme Conditions” warning is announced by the HKSAR Government.

[3] A SWT Day refers to any day from Mondays to Fridays except a Hong Kong public holiday on which severe weather falls.

[4] For customer holding account of Chong Hing Securities Limited, please refer to Notice of Severe Weather Trading Arrangements from Chong Hing Securities Limited separately.

[5] e-cheque deposit cutoff time is 5:40 pm HKT, e-cheque deposited after the cutoff time will be cleared on next working day.

[6] For special CHATS in/ out transactions from Stockbroker customers aiming for settlement purpose, customer should contact your respective Relationship Manager for special arrangements.

[7] Including but not limited to the trading of Equity Linked Note (ELN), Equity Linked Investment (ELI), Currency Linked Deposit (CLD), Currency Linked Investment (CLI), Certificate of Deposit (CD) and Unit Trusts (UT), etc.

[8] During SWT day, Chong Hing Internet Banking/ Mobile Banking could provide services including Faster Payment System (FPS), Adjustments of Fund Transfer Limits and Third-party Payee Registration.
